Primitive Thanksgiving Pumpkin

Thanksgiving, being an American holiday, is very difficult to decorate for here in Australia.  Understandably, Thanksgiving décor, food embellishments, table linens, and dishes are not easy to come by down under.

My solution is to make my own.  Over the years I have created nutty turkeys, a cornucopia, and several other items that I have written posts on.

Nutty Turkey and Cornucopia

Today, I want to share one of my favorite Thanksgiving crafts.  My Primitive Grungy Pumpkin.

Not only is my pumpkin pretty; it smells nice too.  I used cinnamon to grunge this paper mache beauty and the smell is very “holiday – ish”.  Can I say that?  Yes, I think I will.  Holiday-ish.  That is the word that comes to mind as I walk in to the room.

Even Mr. AK likes my newest addition to our growing Thanksgiving décor.  Not that he doesn’t usually, however I must say that explaining a rope covered, wire basket, in the shape of a horn, full of fake fruit was challenging.

I have added my Primitive Pumpkin to my Etsy shop.  I hope you can stop by the shop and see it.

Happy Holidays!
