DIY - Quick, Easy, Fingernail Polish Removal

OOOO Doggies!  Have I been busy!  You may have noticed by my lack of posts lately.  Where does the time go?  I think we all ask ourselves these questions occasionally (or maybe frequently, as in my case).

I have found that it is best if I opt for mess-free, quick, easy and (fingers crossed) cheap methods of beauty care. You know the kind of stuff you can do when juggling a three year old, house and work….ahem.

Mr. AK recently treated me to a manicure.   He actually walked me to the salon, paid and then took Mini-me for an ice cream. – Yep, that’s my man!  When he heard me tell the beautician that I just wanted clear polish, he interrupted and said, “Why not something with color?”.

Well, I realized two days later why I usually forgo the color; it always chips and looks ugly.  Yes, it might have something to do with my work, household chores, and Mini-me, but nonetheless, I hate the way it looks when it starts  coming off.  Since I never use color, I had no remover in the house to fix my tarnished manicure.

Of course, as luck would have it, I had an appointment but didn’t want to arrive with half painted nails so I stopped by the nearest store to purchase my favorite “Instant Nail Polish Remover” by Cutex.

This stuff is so easy and “on the go” convenient.  All you do is take the lid off, dip your nail in, twist twice and whala! no more nail polish.  Problem….no one had ever heard of it in Australia.

I purchased a bottle of regular remover, sat on my hands in my meeting then ran home and made my own bottle of Nail Polish Twist and Remover©.

Don’t worry about making it perfect.  The jar will take care of that.

Step Two and Three:

2.  Cut a hole in the middle of the sponge.

3.   Insert the sponge in the jar.

Step Four:

4.  Add Nail Polish Remover (be sure and use Non-Acetone for fake nails).

Yep, those are my atrocious nails just two days after paying for a manicure!  Eeeks!

Step Five, Six & Seven:

5. Twist your finger in the sponge until nail polish is removed.  {This should only take two or three twists}.

6. Replace the Cap

7.  Enjoy the freedom of using your hands again without embarrassment!
